Department Information Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) at Georgia Tech is an auxiliary unit within the Division of Infrastructure and Sustainability (I&S). PTS interfaces with the entire campus population and constituencies external to campus. The services provided by PTS are as diverse and customer oriented as the consumers served. PTS oversees both the campus parking operations and transportation services.The Parking Department is responsible for the supervision and coordination of all campus parking services for Georgia Tech. It self-operates a comprehensive parking program that includes customer service, cashiering, enforcement, maintenance, and event operations.The Transportation Department manages a comprehensive network of transit services designed to provide the campus community with an effective and safe transportation alternative around the campus and within specific boundaries or destinations off campus. The departments transit services include nine Stinger bus routes, daytime student paratransit van service, and Stingerette van service, which provides nighttime safe ride home services on campus. Job Summary Provide senior level accounting, financial reporting and compliance support for the Institute. Provide specialized expertise in accounting, financial reporting, compliance reviews, performance metrics, training, month-end close and year-end close. Their duties include coordinating with leadership management to identify potential risks, implementing policies and procedures to uphold business rules, guidelines, regulations and monitoring the departments adherence to those policies and procedures by understanding the department business operations. Responsible for a wide variety of finance-related tasks that are primarily associated with preparing financial records. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and ethical practices. It is in alignment with Institute policies and procedures. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Senior Management in Financial Services, Campus Accounting and Finance Officers, Georgia Tech Foundation Controller, Georgia Tech Research Corporation Controller, University System of Georgia Accounting and Financial Reporting Staff, Other Affiliated Organization Accounting and Finance Staff (Georgia Tech Athletic Association, Georgia Tech Alumni Association, etc.) This position typically will advise and counsel: Controller's Office management and staff, Campus Accounting and Finance Officers, and Finance Staff, Affiliated Organizations Accounting and Finance Staff This position will supervise: N/A Responsibilities Job Duty 1 - Serves as a member of the financial reporting team. Complete assignments related to the Institute's annual financial report, affiliated organization financial reports, and financial performance metrics as assigned by senior management Job Duty 2 - Review and approve the department's financial business policies and procedures. Job Duty 3 - Coordinate submission of financial reporting information to external governing bodies and audit teams. Assist in the planning, executing, and concluding compliance assessments. Job Duty 4 - Conduct reviews of accounting and finance transactions, including but not limited to Journal Entries, Custodial Funds, Prior Year Purchase Orders and purchasing card activities, to analyze and monitor compliance with internal controls, policies, procedures, and regulations. Job Duty 5 - Prepare comprehensive reports of results for senior management, highlighting current weaknesses and opportunities for improvement. Job Duty 6 - Responsible for internal audits. Including but not limited to preparing and tracking monthly action plan and to see the proper closer of audit findings. Job Duty 7 - Ensure accurate financial reporting and transparent processes and procedures for recording and verifying revenues, expenses, assets, and liabilities. Provide technical support and guidance regarding GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)..Job Duty 8 - Write effective compliance accounting procedure description, listing detailed tasks and expectations. Job Duty 9 - Lead training classes for campus users to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations Job Duty 10 - Perform other job-related duties as assigned including leading special projects as directed by senior management Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Experience Four to five years of job related experience Preferred Qualifications Additional Preferred Qualifications Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Experience with financial reporting and financial statement preparation in a college/university environment; experience with auditing and financial compliance activities; experience with PeopleSoft Financials General Ledger or equivalent financial system experience; experience using independent judgment and action to solve complex problems Preferred Educational Qualifications Master's Degree in Accounting, Business or related field Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities SKILLS This job requires proficiency with Microsoft Office; requires strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, ability to effectively multi-task, ability to work with all levels of management and staff; excellent oral and written communication skills and effective time management skills.
