Job Details - Facility in Illinois is looking for travel ER nurses! Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience. This contract is for 12 hour shifts for 13 weeks.
Job Requirements - Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience.
- Flexibility to rotating start times.
- 3+ years of ER experience.
- Moderate sedation.
- First time traveler okay.
Schedule Information - This contract is for 12 hour shifts for 13 weeks.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hours. Nursing- 7-7, 10-10, 11-11p, 12-midnoc, 7p-7a.
- Techs- 7a-7p,10-10, 1p-1a, 7p-7a.
- Flexibility to work all shifts is key.
- They try to be cognizant of schedules when flipping from nights to days.
- This is for midshifts, so it would be 12-hour shifts starting at 9am, 10am, 11am, 12pm or 1pm.
Unit Specific Information - Common diagnoses: Respiratory viruses, anything from a stubbed toe- MI- MVA, homeless. Neonates to geriatrics.
- Moderate sedation experience. Lumbar puncture.
- Common drips: All critical care drips.
- ED Physician/Mid-Levels: 1 provider 7-6p, MD 10-2000. Midlevel 12-0000, Night 6p-6a. Provider coverage based on patient load. Always one physician on staff.
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: House supervisor 24/7. Charge nurse on day shift- sometimes takes patients, jumps in to help where needed, triage, lunches, etc.
- Nurse aids/EMT: ED tech (CNA/EMT/Paramedic/Could use CMA but only in tech role). Duties include: EKG, draw blood (must have phleb experience), assist with wound care, transport, vitals, stock/clean room. No splinting or casting. They have staggered shift starts. Care support with a Secretary that manages throughput/workload. Patient care liaison assists as well- fluff and puffer, making sure rooms are clean, gives warm blankets, etc.
- Is RT in the ER 24/7: RT assigned. Would be called to the department if assistance is needed. RT manages RT equipment. Nurses troubleshoot. Nurses can do breathing treatments although RT typically handles.
- RT Equipment: All RT equipment.
- Do you have Monitor Techs in the ER: Staff monitors ED patients in the ED. Tele tech does not monitor. RNs required to read and interpret.
- X-Ray or CT in the ER: Imaging connected to ER through double doors. Ed tech typically transports but nurses may have to at times.
- Does Phlebotomy draw labs or RN's draw?: Techs/nurses handle blood draws.
- Scrub Color: Solid colors of professional scrubs.
- Department specific orientation: 2 12 hour shifts of orientation. Also meet with HR to get badge, etc.
