The Cardiac Catheterization Technologist is responsible for providing care and assistance to patients undergoing invasive cardiology or radiology studies. This role involves administering contrast material, anticipating set-up and procedural needs, assisting with inventory and supplies, and documenting clinical information. The technologist also explains procedures to patients, maintains a clean work area, and ensures competence in operating imaging and monitoring equipment. Additionally, the role involves working around and maintaining a sterile field during procedures, administering and withholding contrast as appropriate, and functioning as a scrub and monitor technician during procedures. Requirements include the ability to take call after 6 months of orientation, as well as the flexibility to work variable shifts and float to all procedural areas.
