We have an exciting opportunity for a Transportation Drainage Engineer to join a leading engineering firm!Position: Transportation Drainage Engineer Location: Chicago, Illinois Employment Type: Full-time, PermanentAbout the Role:As a Transportation Drainage Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and managing stormwater drainage systems within transportation projects. Your work will ensure the safe and efficient management of water runoff, contributing to the sustainability and resilience of the region's infrastructure. You will work closely with a dynamic team of engineers, project managers, and municipal stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions for a variety of transportation projects, including roads, highways, and bridges.Key Responsibilities: - Design and model transportation drainage systems, including stormwater collection, conveyance, and retention systems.
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to assess stormwater management needs.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to stormwater management and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate drainage solutions into transportation design projects.
- Prepare technical reports, construction documents, and design plans for various projects.
- Assist in coordinating with government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and staff.Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois or ability to obtain within a specified time.
- 3+ years of experience in transportation drainage or stormwater management engineering.
- Proficiency in drainage design software (e.g., HY-8, EPA SWMM, AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Strong knowledge of local and national stormwater regulations and best practices.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
