  Job Details
  • General job duties include assessments every 4 hours, medication administration, reassessment of interventions, ADL support, blood administration, applying back and neck braces, G-tube feeding, IV insertion and maintenance, central line use and maintenance, pain management, dressing changes, oral care, turning, and restraints.
  • Types of patients include those with neck and back spinal surgery, stroke, brain tumor, seizure, head injury, MS, Myasthenia Gravis, Peripheral neuropathy, encephalopathy, and spinal fractures.
  • Equipment utilized includes EPIC, Vocera, Pyxis, and no lift equipment in all but 5 rooms.
    Job Requirements
    • RN licensure in Illinois
    • BLS certification
    • NIHSS certification (required)
    • Minimum of 2 years Med/Surg Neuro experience.
      Schedule Information
      • 12 hour shifts, three days a week
      • Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday on Day Shift and either Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday on Night Shift)
      • Every other Holiday (specific holidays listed)
        Unit Specific Information
        • Could float to another general/med unit (Nephrology, Oncology, Ortho, Adult Medical Surgical, Surgical, Rehab, Cardiac 5 G)
        • 3 days of unit-specific training and orientation program.
