Sr Building Engineer - Central Utility Plant, Life Sciences Site Job ID 193613 Posted 14-Nov-2024 Service line GWS Segment Role type Full-time Areas of Interest Engineering/Maintenance, Facilities Management Location(s) Indianapolis - Indiana - United States of America About the role: This is a Night Shift position covering the Central Utility Plant and related functions. Shifts are 12 hours on a 2 2 3 rotation, and shift premium pay is provided. What you'll do: --- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures --- Maintain logs for all notable events throughout the shift --- Monitor BMS computer systems, respond to alarms as necessary o Research buildings- normal business hours call appropriate shop o Research buildings nights, weekends, and holidays, contact the on-call person after investigating o LCC or LTC Administration buildings normal business hours call shop personnel o LCC or LTC Administration buildings nights, weekends, and holidays call on-call personnel o NOTE: Freezer, animal area, and Clinical Diagnostic Labs' alarms require immediate response o Start and stop air handlers, water pump skids, or otherwise assist shops with BMS needs --- Start and Stop Machinery and Monitor UMS o Chillers (Steam driven & Electric driven) o Heat Exchangers o Air Compressors o Cooling Towers o Pumps --- Log Readings On All Machinery and Equipment o Machines that are running are logged twice per shift. (Log sheet located at each machine) o Idle machines get logged once per shift (Exception: idle air compressors get logged twice a shift) o Cooling towers are inspected once per shift, and readings logged twice per shift. --- Respond to security's calls after hours concerning alarms and issues not on BMS or UMS o Lab alarms o Leaks o Noises o Odors --- Monitor Water Treatment and de-ionized water system o Visually inspect tote and drum levels of the chemicals that are on line o Receive, Off-load, and Change out totes & drums as needed o Prime pumps and fix leaks as needed o Operate water treatment system and complete water tests and logs o Visually inspect and log readings for EDI machines and respond to alarms. Perform minor maintenance (filter changes, adding salt to softeners, etc) as needed --- Assist maintenance as needed and complete work orders as assigned --- Perform vehicle inspections (fork truck, reach truck, Mule, etc). Inspection sheet located on each vehicle --- Perform Transformer Yard inspections --- Monitor liquid nitrogen (N2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) utility system o Receive nitrogen delivery in person o Monitor tank levels and confirm scheduled delivery with supplier --- Inspect all equipment in work areas and tunnels at least Bi-weekly What you'll need: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 4 or more years experience in electrical systems, refrigeration and/or HVAC. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
