What you'll do: As the Manufacturing Engineer for - -(A Shyft Brand) based at our facility in -, you will enjoy developing and maintaining the manufacturing systems needed to drive continuous improvement in areas of cost, quality, safety, lead time, and use of working capital. This role focuses on optimizing production processes by analyzing workflows, conducting time studies, and implementing Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S methodology. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering and production teams to select, design, and implement tooling and equipment. Additionally, they will assist in the design and layout of production lines using AutoCAD software. Occasional travel to support operations at other company locations is required. You will also: - Evaluate tools and equipment options that will improve productivity and eliminate hazards
- Plan and estimate new manufacturing processes and operations
- Implement lean manufacturing principles such as visual controls, pull inventory systems, workplace organization, material flow routes, and material delivery methods (kitting, kanban, milk routes, etc.)
- Monitor and correct safety and ergonomic issues
- Develop and organize lean events
- Assist with the NPI process and support the War On Waste (WOW) program
- Evaluate new projects for layout optimization, opportunities for automaton, material delivery and presentation, material flow, and operator work envelopes
- Develop standard work for existing and new processes
- Perform workstation audits to optimize the operator envelope and density
- Drive continuous improvement and eliminate waste
- Aid in workstation load balancing for all manufacturing areas
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering, materials, purchasing, and sales to resolve issues

- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and manufacturing engineering experience
- Two or more (2+) years of related manufacturing engineering experience
- Versed in working in a low volume/high variation manufacturing operation
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, Kaizen, etc)
- Experience with time studies and production analysis techniques
- Proficiency in computer-aided design systems (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred)
- Project management skills
- A history of starting, implementing, and bringing projects to closure on time and within budget
- Proficient in Microsoft 365, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Sound judgment with the ability to make timely, and sometimes difficult, decisions
