As a Land Surveyor you must be self-motivated and able to independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge of surveying principles and practices in broad areas of assignments. Works on a major project or several projects of moderate scope with complex features.Some key duties and responsibilities include: - Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features
- Perform complex surveys and complete projects as assigned
- Research historic maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title information as needed
- Follow accepted legal principals to compare and verify current measurements and resolve boundary disputes
- Prepare new parcel plats and legal descriptions
- Perform staking computations and create exhibits
- Supervise, participate in, and approve the reduction of survey field notes and calculations
- Assist in training junior staff members
- Other duties as assignedKey skills and abilities needed for the position are:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents with excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated aptitude to understand calculations, alignments, and instructions for field work
- Knowledge of AutoCAD C3D software functionality to prepare survey plats and exhibits
- Must maintain thorough understanding of IMEG survey equipment, survey practices, and survey software programs including GPS surveying practices
- Effectively communicate with clients, officials, contractors, and others
- Self-motivated with good time management
- Travel may be required
- Valid driver's license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrierEducation and experience requirements are:
