The Lead Cook will oversee kitchen operations, ensure meal preparation meets nutritional and safety standards, and help create a welcoming and supportive dining environment for children and youth in our care. This role is essential in maintaining a high standard of quality, safety, and service in all food-related operations. - -Key Responsibilities - Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals according to dietary guidelines and specific needs.
- Oversee kitchen operations, including inventory management, food storage, and compliance with health -and safety regulations.
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring efficient teamwork and adherence to meal schedules.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
- Manage food orders and budgets to ensure cost-effective meal planning.
- Work collaboratively with staff to meet the dietary needs and preferences of children and youth. - -Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Culinary certification preferred.
- -Knowledge of nutritional needs of children up to the age of 18 and the required quantity and type of food edible for children and at least 21 years of age is required based on state requirement of being at least 3 years older than the oldest resident -
- Minimum of 1 years of professional cooking experience, with leadership or supervisory experience a plus.
- -Must have a valid driver's license and meet agency underwriting standards if driving on agency business. -
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines (e.g., ServSafe certification preferred).
- -Ability to read and interpret financial statements, budgets, audit reports, etc. -
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to adapt menus to meet dietary restrictions and preferences.
