The EMT will respond to emergent and nonemergent medical transports and are responsible for assessing patients' conditions, administering basic life support, and transporting patients to medical facilities for further treatment. EMTs are an integral part of the healthcare system, provide critical care during emergencies and making a significant impact on patient's lives. The role of the EMT demands quick thinking, compassion, and the ability to work as part of a team to deliver timely and effective pre-hospital care.The Role and Responsibilities of the EMT EVO include:Provide excellent patient care within the scope of practice of an EMTProvide safe transport of the patient and crewRespond to emergent and non-emergent transportsProvides effective communication with patients, dispatch, crews, family members, and facility staffAbility operation communication devices; portable radio, cell phone, computer tabletCompletion of patient contact reports prior to shift completionEnsure maintenance of vehicles and equipment for transport readinessMaintain cleanliness of stationMaintain certifications with timely completion of refresher courses and CMEsRemain current on all state protocols, policies, and/or proceduresRepresent BMT/BCA at community events as assigned#HPRequirementsQUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSGraduation From High School or equivalent19 years old at time of hire for insurance purposesSuccessful completion of NREMT certificationCurrent NREMT and State EMT (or ability to obtain with in 10 days of hire)Valid driver's licenseAbility to drive company vehicles with a clean driving recordSuccessful completion of a state sponsored EVOC course or ability to obtain in 90 daysCurrent AHA BLS CPR or ability to obtain within 10 days of hireAbility to provide quality patient care within scope of practiceKnowledge of all state protocols for an EMTAbility to pass a lift test of 150 - 200 poundsAbility to pass a pre-employment drug testAbility to pass a pre-employment background checkAbility to speak and write EnglishPREFERRED SKILLSExcellent customer service skillsKnowledge of medical terminology and writing patient care reportsProblem solvingAbility to remain calm under pressurePrevious EMS experienceWe'd love to have you join the Butler Medical Transport team!
