IntroductionThis is a contractual, position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Chesapeake and Coastal Watershed. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Full-Time; 12-month ContractGRADE16LOCATION OF POSITION580 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, MD (Anne Arundel County)Main Purpose of JobThe position functions within the Habitat Restoration and Conservation Program of the Chesapeake and Coastal Service and will assist the Community Partnership for Restoration (Program), Program Manager and staff in building and maintaining impactful relationships with local governments, community partners, networks, and others. The goal of the position is to provide strategic outreach, capacity, and technical assistance to constituents across Maryland, specifically those in overburdened and underserved areas. The Program and this position aims to increase both fiscal and programmatic resource opportunities toward implementing restoration and resilience projects. Other job responsibilities include coordinating and attending meetings and outdoor site visits, state and/or federal grant management, and planning events or workshops for specific communities. As a Community-based Restoration Planner, part of this position involves engaging and assisting underserved and overburdened communities to ascertain the skills and knowledge necessary to take environmental actions related to restoration, conservation, access, diversity, equity, and inclusion.POSITION DUTIESThe Department of Natural Resources, Center for Habitat Restoration and Conservation within the Chesapeake and Coastal Service, is currently accepting applications for a Long-Term Contractual Natural Resource Manager II. This position will assist the Community Partnership for Restoration Program to create and assist communities and local governments in assessing and developing restoration and conservation efforts. Position will also serve as a community liaison and coordinator for regional partnerships and networks.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.Experience: Seven years of experience either performing, or supervising workers performing technical natural resources or conservation work.Notes: Candidates may substitute pertinent volunteer and/or part-time experience for the required experience. Please document the number of hours spent per week in this type of experience on the application. Candidate may substitute one year of vocational education from an accredited high school or 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in a natural resources discipline for one year of the required experience. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a non-commissioned officer in the natural resources management and biological sciences classifications or natural resources management and biological sciences specialty codes in the biological science technician field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBackground and experience working with diverse populations and communities. Grant and project management; outreach and capacity building skills; cultural competence.LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONSEmployees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must be provided prior to hire.BENEFITSContractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits. Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period.
