The Nicolson lab is seeking a highly motivated, PhD (or equivalent) graduate who will support our laboratory as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Division of Radiation Oncology at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. The Nicholson lab is looking for creative and hardworking individuals who want to do research in an interdisciplinary, fun, and supportive laboratory setting.Despite significant advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, there is still a need to develop more refined, molecularly targeted approaches that can diagnose and treat cancer in a personalized manner. The Nicolson lab at Dana-Farber is interested in tackling these challenges through the development of imaging technologies and theranostic agents for the improved detection, evaluation, and treatment of cancer. Our research spans diverse disciplines including mouse modelling, nano- radio- and synthetic- chemistry, small animal imaging, molecular biology, radiobiology, and bioengineering. Specifically, we are looking for a candidate with interests in radiation-induced DNA damage, cancer biology, and translational research. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic independent researcher seeking a rich intellectual, collaborative, and dynamic environment where they can advance their skills in biomedical research. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work closely with colleagues in academia and industry and receive career mentoring from Dr. Nicolson.Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in life-changing breakthroughs in cancer research and patient care. - Willingness to work with radioactivity.
- Maintain detailed and understandable lab notebooks and records.
- Mentoring of research technicians and undergraduate students.
- Interpret, discuss, and present research findings with lab members and principal investigator.
- Perform and support experiments both independently and in partnership with other lab members and collaborators (academic and industrial).
- Analyze experimental data meticulously, interpreting results to generate comprehensive reports and summaries of findings.
- Take ownership of the day-to-day planning of own experiments.
- Develop figures to depict research findings, write research and review papers, and present at scientific meetings.
- Write grants for external fellowships and awards.
- Maintain intellectual curiosity and commitment by staying up-to-date with relevant literature and research publications.
