Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician FLSA Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt/Hourly Professional Work Location: Fall River, MA Work Hours: First Shift: 8 AM - 5 PM (May vary based on business needs) Reports To: Facilities Maintenance Engineer Purpose: The purpose of this role is to assist in the mechanical/electrical maintenance, repairs and servicing of a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. Scope: The scope (content and statements) of this job description is designed to describe the general nature and level of work as well as provide a basic understanding of the role, responsibilities, and expectations of the person assigned to perform the job. Multifunctional Role: This job is a multifunctional role. The primary nature of this job is to serve as a Facilities Maintenance Technician. As a secondary requirement, this position will be expected to provide support to other operational functions to include but not limited to Packaging Operations, Manufacturing Operations, and Warehouse Operations. Job Description: The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs all functions relating to the mechanical maintenance and electrical work in our facility; consistent with established Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), customer requirements and in conjunction with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Incumbents in this position are responsible for the safe and efficient execution of their job duties, while ensuring product compliance to established standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Performing daily maintenance and monitoring of equipment to ensure a high level of reliability.
- Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Evaluate and repair a wide variety of machinery and equipment using acquired knowledge, skills and experience, company supplied tools, some fabrication of parts and new and/or used but serviceable repair parts.
- Prepare for operation, maintenance and engineering procedures of all equipment.
- Follow procedure as per Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) guidelines by Quality Assurance (QA).
- Check and monitor for cleanliness, maintenance, upkeep of the facility, premise and equipment.
- Maintain concurrent entries of all operations/activities.
- Assist with any carpentry activities to include building walls/rooms with minimal guidance, installing repairs and finish drywall to completion, priming/painting new and existing walls, ceilings, doors, etc. throughout the site internally and externally.
- Install and troubleshoot facility electrical systems.
- Coordinate with central utility so that required quality utilities can be provided to plant.
- Handle and maintain the electrical distribution system and plan for energy conservation.
- Handle the preventive maintenance of production equipment and machinery.
- Breakdown and preventive maintenance of BMS equipment and instruments.
- To check daily alarms in BMS and plan their immediate, corrective and preventive maintenance.
- Operation of BMS and service floor equipment.
- Ensure the calibration activities are completed.
- Daily monitoring and maintenance of records of the purified water generation, storage, and distribution system.
- Participate in qualification and validation activities for effective implementation of validation master plan.
- Work individually and in collaboration with others as part of a team.
- Execute procedures to complete tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform duties through the proper safe use of equipment, according to Health & Safety procedures and Equipment Manuals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Other Responsibilities: - Assign jobs to contractors and issue work permits as required.
- Must stay current with evolving technology and new procedures and equipment.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Handle relevant documents.
- Complete documents in a time manner, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Report all issues that arises to the department head or reporting manager.
- Maintain discipline in department.
- May be required to assist in the training of other employees in the department.
- Remain flexible to extended work hours to achieve department and facility goals when needed.
Training and Safety: All employees must undergo various training activities at the start of their employment. Facilities Maintenance Technician will participate in on-the-job training and miscellaneous trainings to include assisting in the coordination and scheduling of trainings. New trainings and re-trainings will occur periodically.Employees muststrictly adhere to all safety, health, and environmental guidelines at all times and ensure that all safety precautions are being taken during handling of machines. Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent is required with 3 years' experience
- Accredited college certificate or university degree is preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in mechanical maintenance and electrical work in an industrial setting.
- Knowledge of facility plumbing including domestic water system and sewer.
- Carpentry Skills to include Following blueprints and building plans, installing structures and fixtures, measuring, cutting, and shaping wood, plastic, and other materials, constructing building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes, and repairing damaged framework or other structures/fixtures.
- Proficient understanding of HVAC systems, electrical systems, janitorial.
- Strong knowledge of boiler maintenance and operations.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing, building maintenance and building inspections.
- Works with high-voltage equipment, so must be alert and precise.
- Must be proficient in understanding and applying all GMP guidelines and policies.
- Basic understanding of mechanical machinery.
- Proficiency in the English language (Speaking/Reading/Writing) to understand work instructions and document results.
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to work in both independent and team environments.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety procedures, including, OSHA.
