The Materials and Process Engineering (M&PE) Department, which functions within the Mechanical Engineering Discipline team, is seeking a Section Leader to lead our Design and Development Northeast team located in Andover, MA. - As a Section Lead, the ideal candidate will be accountable for direct line management of the engineering team supporting program design, development, and production activities. -The Section Leader will support and lead the multi-disciplined engineering team and provide material and process solutions and services across all program phases, including proposal development. What You Will Do: - Perform direct line management activities and provide leadership for approximately 10-15 engineers within this multi-disciplined group.
- Provide technical development of people, mentoring, training, performance management, and resource allocation.
- Perform individual contributor workload in the leader's subject matter discipline.
- Team with the Department Leader in the execution of Materials and Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Discipline and Raytheon Engineering goals. -Lead and support department, directorate, and engineering initiatives.
- Ensure two-way communication for section members; serve as the day-to-day liaison to the programs concerning employee job assignments, performance, and recognition.
- Responsibilities also include coordinating program and department staffing needs, optimizing resource utilization, and supporting recruitment and retention efforts.
- Provide Materials and Process Engineering support and technical oversight to programs' product life cycle (design reviews, gate reviews, Material Review Board, Change Control Board, Process Change Board, and engineering peer reviews). -
- Provide evaluation and resolution to technical, operational, and supplier problems related to materials and processes
- Provide oversight to ensure the accuracy of technical output of assignments based on data and analyses. -
- Interface with other organizations across the Raytheon Enterprise such as Quality, Operations, Reliability, System Safety and Supply Chain. - The Design and Development (NE) Section Leader job is in Andover, MA and the position is onsite. Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience. In absence of a degree, 12+ years of experience. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience
- Experience in materials and process design, development, and/or production support for military programs
- Experience working on a cross-functional team to meet program milestones and commitments
- Experience with managing engineering budgets with Earned Value Management (EVMS), Estimate at Complete (EAC) process, and supporting/leading proposals
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications We Prefer:
- Advanced degree in aforementioned disciplines. - ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
- Ten (10) years of experience in materials problem solving, materials design selection and reviews, or evaluation/validation of material properties for new or existing products - -
- Working experience with IPDS Gate Reviews, PDM, assembly drawings, material specifications and military specifications
- Experience in program system processes related to Material Review Boards, Material and Process Change Boards, Risk Boards, and/or Engineering Review Boards
- Direct participation in program or project milestones such as preliminary design reviews and critical design reviews
- Familiarity with Engineering Team Strength, Labor Forecasting (ELF) or similar
- Basis of Estimate (BOE) Certification
- EVMS Certification
- Experience with Risk & Opportunity Management
- Ability to work collaboratively in an Integrated Product Team environment, interfacing with multiple Engineering disciplines, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, IPT Leadership, Program Managers, and Customers What We Offer:
