SUMMARY: The Layout position is responsible for the layout, drilling, and modification of metal-related options for Spartan's emergency response cabs and bodies. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: - Use and create templates to precisely lay out and outline metal-related options for the cab and body, as specified through detailed drawings, blueprints, and operator instructions
- Accurately and consistently drill and cut the the cab and body for metal-related options, as laid out
- Deburr cab and body openings
- Layout and build stainless steel bumpers to meet customer specifications using a plasma cutter, buffer, grinder, and/or drills, as required
- Fabricate components from raw stock, as needed
- Lead / perform lean events
- Work closely with Engineering
- Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete duties in assigned area
- Read and follow detailed operator instructions, installation drawings, blueprints, etcetera, as required by a particular area
- Self-check work and inspect prior processes
- Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, as required
- Meet production goals
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Initiate process improvements
- Support 5S in work area
- Communicate with manufacturing and other cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issues
- Solve complex problems with minimal assistance QUALIFICATIONS:

- Effectively operate a plasma cutter to cut steel and other metals to meet specifications
