About the Job


Responsibilities include:

Student Development 50%

  • Serve as primary advisor to student cultural centers, including working closely with cultural center student leaders on programs & initiatives and assisting with program development & implementation
  • Provides vision, oversight and support for various student groups and organizations. Advises and guides student leaders regarding aims, policies, plans and philosophies. Develops programs to create a diverse and inclusive University community and programs that offer opportunities for students to develop leadership experiences and skills.
  • Monitor programmatic budgets for the cultural centers
  • Identify, develop and present services, resources, and activities that advocate for and support overall student development
  • Create a healthy environment for student mentoring/advising
  • Co-advise Cultural Centers Advisory Group
  • Assist in management of the physical spaces of the cultural centers to ensure spaces are properly maintained. Ensure compliance with leases and provide advising support for space renewal process.Collaboration & Relationship Building 10%
    • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with staff within the Office for Student Affairs, the Office for Equity & Diversity, Career Services units, Housing & Residential Life, Academic Advising, Student Unions & Activities, and other college departments, units, and university offices that have a connection with student cultural centers
    • Assist the Office for Admissions with recruitment efforts for underrepresented students
    • Assist cultural centers with recruitment efforts of underrepresented students
    • Assist Career Services with career readiness for underrepresented student populations
      Social Justice 20%
      • Co-lead Social Justice Leadership Initiatives (Certificate program, Social Justice Action Living and Learning community in Housing and Residential Life)
        Program Development & Assessment 20%
        • Assist student leaders in the development of social and cultural programming
        • Develop and implement measurement tools to assess student satisfaction and MCSE program success
        • Co-lead Emotionally Intelligent Leadership Workshop
        • Assist with Power and Privilege Series
        • Direct process improvement effortsOther duties as assigned
          Qualifications


          Required Qualifications
          • Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 4 years of experience working in higher education, including experience advising student groups, Master's degree preferred
          • Demonstrated commitment to and experience in serving the unique needs of diverse student populations
          • Program development and evaluation experience
          • Knowledge of identity development
          • Knowledge of student development theories, current literature, issues and trends in Student Life
          • Knowledge of budget planning and administration
            About the Department


            The position will support the work of Multicultural Student Engagement and the Office for Student Activities in advising student cultural centers, and promoting principles of respect, diversity, inclusion, and social justice. The position will report to the Program Director for Multicultural Student Engagement, a unit in the Division of Student Affairs.
            Pay and Benefits
