It will be responsible for supporting community partnerships to ensure high quality community-engaged learning. Main Responsibilities: Develop and sustain (often over many years) successful collaborations with local community and government organizations to fulfill the objectives of community-engaged learning courses while meeting community needs. Conduct site visits and maintain regular communication with partners by phone, e-mail, and through a monthly electronic newsletter. a. Plan and facilitate annual events to increase community partners' capacity to work effectively with students. Provide technical assistance, consultation and ongoing support to faculty across all Twin Cities campus colleges (including undergraduate, graduate and professional programs) in developing and implementing courses utilizing community-engaged learning pedagogy. a. Provide guidance on community sites, syllabus construction, and reflection assignments. b. Manage logistics of student placements and tracking. Facilitate Successful Community-Engaged Learning Experiences for Students a. Inform students of all relevant requirements, policies, and procedures. b. Guide students to make informed decisions about their community-engaged learning placements. c. Advise students encountering challenges at their community-engaged learning sites and/or in fulfilling their course requirements. Communicate with faculty and community partners as needed to resolve student issues. d. Provide support for the development of on-line training modules for students doing community-engaged learning as part of their curriculum or co-curriculum. e. Support development of CEL online resource featuring details on engaged-learning courses to help students make more informed decisions. Effectively Facilitate Community-Engaged Learning with other professional staff colleagues: a. Integrate working knowledge of community-engaged learning (focus on service-learning) theories and approaches appropriately to meet each course's learning objectives and to problem-solve. b. Communicate effectively with faculty, students and community partners about community-engaged learning pedagogy, policies, and procedures. c. Maintain the CCEL's in-house online system for managing community-engaged learning courses. Update information as needed, set-up courses in the system, and provide guidance to faculty, students, and community partners on using the system. d. Ensure that students, faculty and community partners comply with CCEL and University of Minnesota policies. e. Recommend and implement changes in procedures and systems to improve efficiency. f. Devise and implement strategies that increase the quality of community-engaged learning for faculty, students, and community organizations. g. Suggest policy improvements that enhance the quality of community-engaged learning experiences and advance the institution's public and community engagement mission. Other Responsibilities: 1. Participate in CCEL staff meetings, retreats, professional development events. 2. Assist at office-wide events such as: Community Involvement Fair, Community Partner meeting, CCEL Open House, CESP reception, Welcome Week, etc. 3. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in relevant field + at least 4 years of relevant professional experience OR Master's degree in relevant field + 2 years relevant professional experience
- Documented ability to work successfully with a broad range of constituencies (students, faculty, staff, and community partner representatives) and experience developing partnerships for community-engaged learning
- Project management experience
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Evidence of successfully working in diverse communities
- Demonstrated commitment to equal opportunity, equity, inclusion, diversity, and racial justice
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Highly organized; demonstrated ability to multi-task, strong time management skills
- Demonstrated experience working both independently and collaboratively
