About the Job


The assistant coach is responsible for supporting all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division III women's soccer program. The assistant coach assists the head coach in student recruitment and retention; coaches student athletes and fosters their skill development; assists in coaching plans and implementation at practices and competitions; provides for students' safety, health and wellbeing; complies with NCAA, UMAC and university policies; provides sound fiscal management; assists in equipment oversight, scheduling, travel planning, and summer camps; assists in off-season programs and athlete development; and assists in program communication and fundraising efforts with the Head Coach. The assistant coach will work with the head coach to build a shared vision, work collaboratively with the Office of Admissions, build and retain a diverse and talented team, foster good sportsmanship and a climate of respect, and provide an environment that supports students in achieving their athletic, academic and life goals.This position will also carry an additional responsibility within Cougar Athletics.This is a 75%, 10-month, annually renewable coaching appointment. The position carries a $28,000-$30,000 annual salary, comprehensive benefit package, and the opportunity for an on-campus housing package depending on circumstance.
Qualifications


Required:

• Bachelor's degree and demonstrated effectiveness playing and/or coaching soccer
• Excellent organization, oral and written communication skills
• An appreciation for the philosophy of the NCAA Division III,
• Strong program management skills,
• The ability to recruit and retain qualified and talented student athletes,
• A demonstrated commitment to students' athletic and academic success,
• The demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and retain a diverse, inclusive, successful team with sensitivity to individuals of all cultural backgrounds,
• The capacity to be a visible and engaging leaderPreferred:
  • A Master's degree, college coaching experience and/or participation at the collegiate levelThe successful candidate will demonstrate an appreciation for the mission and value of a public liberal arts college, be self-directed and motivated, work with integrity, and bring skills and abilities needed to advance Cougar women's soccer, the athletic programs, and the University.
