About the Job


CFR Research Associate

Purpose of the position: The Research Associate would be responsible for annual audit and maintenance of models used by students in the Carlson Funds Enterprise.

Responsibilities: The Research Associate would be responsible for the tasks such as

  • Auditing models posted in the Cap IQ for the current holdings, identifying gaps.
  • Working with incoming students on model updates.
  • Updating financial model templates as needed (Primarily fixed income and bank residual income, but also working with Professor Nantell on equity models).
  • Developing new templates, such as pro-forma models to be used in valuing acquisitions, industry-specific revenue-build templates, and relatives value templates
  • Update/develop standardized presentation templates and performance reporting templates

    Qualifications


    Qualified applicants must have a complete understanding of the operations of the Carlson Funds Enterprise, as well as very strong skills in using Excel (including both the Bloomberg and CapIQ add-ins), strong knowledge of finance principles, particularly as applied to business valuation problems, and demonstrated competency in portfolio management.

    The David S. Kidwell Funds Enterprise (CFE) allows MBA, MS of Finance, and undergraduate students majoring in finance the opportunity to manage over $50 million of real investment money. Guided by the managing director and faculty members, student participants take total control of the money management process. Not only does the program allow students to learn about real-word investment management, but participants are able to earn competitive returns as well.
    Pay and Benefits


    Pay Range: $25.00 per/hr; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
