Location:Oncology Hematology AssociatesPay Range:$19.16 - $31.94Position SummaryPerform and train all new laboratory staff on all aspects of the laboratory including but not limited to phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance.Key Performance Areas1. Responsible for performing and training new laboratory staff on: - Performing proper quality control procedures before proceeding with patient testing.
- Drawing blood for lab work. Prepare slides for evaluation.
- Maintaining test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records, and checklists according to all regulatory agencies.
- Following laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing. Sending outside labs to appropriate facility as dictated by patient's insurance plan.
- Obtaining vital signs, height, and weight of patient as requested by physician and document in the patient's chart or EMR.
- Placing patient in exam room and preparing for physician in a timely manner.
- Receiving lab reports via the telephone, lab system, or fax and documenting in the patient's chart or EMR for physician's review.
- Performing technical laboratory procedures in a timely manner with accuracy and precision, meeting the standards of all accrediting/regulatory agencies.
- Documentation: Thorough documentation in medical chart or Onco/EMR of testing/treatment rendered to patients. Preparing encounter form to charge patient for services received in office or initials each step in the process for electronic superbill.
- Handling critical blood counts according to guidelines.
- Obtaining all pertinent scans and prepare for physician's review.
- Maintaining adequate inventory of supplies. Placing orders with Purchasing as needed.
- Initiating troubleshooting procedures when instrument malfunction occurs and contacting the Central Lab or instrument service company if necessary.
- Performing therapeutic phlebotomy.
- Perform ongoing training of all laboratory staff.2. Perform ongoing training of all laboratory staff.3. Train on and perform any and all duties required to keep laboratory in compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies.4. Train on and observe established safety guidelines and maintains cleanliness of the laboratory and equipment.5. Will follow the Company patient I.D. policy and procedure with every patient encounter.6. Required to take two CEUs annually to meet Company/C.O.L.A. requirements.7. Comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to patient care, patient's rights, safety, billing, and collections.8. Adhere to all Company and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Recovery Plan.9. Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient information at all times.10. Will be expected to work at any Company location to help meet the Company's business needs. Will be expected to work overtime when given sufficient notice of required overtime.Required Qualifications
