In this role, you will be at the forefront of implementing robust, scalable, and highly available network solutions. We are looking for a Network specialist with experience in network architecture, implementation, and operations. This position is a valued member within the Platform Engineering (PE) team. The Network specialist is at the forefront of implementing robust and advanced network infrastructure across a multi-region private cloud. The Network specialist works closely with specialists from the Operations, Platform DevOps, Site Reliability, and Security teams to architect, implement, evolve, and maintain the next generation Platform Engineering network.Our organization provides an enterprise grade engineering development environment so that engineers can rapidly experiment and prototype new technologies. Your responsibility extends beyond solving existing problems; it's about anticipating and addressing future capacity, demand, and technological needs. We believe in investing in our people and training is available to achieve appropriate vendor certifications for this role.Key Responsibilities:Engineering and DesignSupport and deploy complex multi-site, multi-tenant networks, which enforce traffic segregationSupport document outages, implementation changes, and system reference architecturesImplement industry best practices for network design and implementationMaintain current documentation for network infrastructureOperations and supportLeverage network orchestration technologies like Juniper Apstra, or Cisco vManageInstall, configure, maintain, and decommission data center network infrastructureUse routing protocols like BGP or OSPF to interconnect networks, and to build highly available datacenter servicesOperate in a mixed hardware environment and work with diverse product vendorsIncident ResponseParticipate in incident response and root-cause analysis, support a blameless post-mortems cultureTroubleshoot complex issues that arise on development and interconnected networksAutomationUse existing tools to automate network operations to increase efficiency, enforce configurations, and ensure repeatability with tools like Ansible, Terraform, or PythonPlease note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status.Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.Required Education, Experience, & Skills Professional Skills - Experience troubleshooting and resolving problems in a production environment
- Ability to research solutions to problems and propose viable solutions
- Ability to work with multiple teams to accomplish complex tasks
- Comfortable working with multiple vendors in a heterogeneous environment
- Must be able to obtain a Security+ or equivalent security certification within 6 months of starting
- Technical skills
- Familiarity with at least one virtualization platform such as VMware, Azure Stack, or Open Stack
- Experience with at least one LAN switching technology such as VLANS, spanning tree, and ether-channel
- Familiarity with network routing protocols such as Static OSPF & BGP
- Comfortable with Firewall routing, policy, and inspection
- Familiarity with configuring and managing NAT devices
- Experience with IP-Sec VPNs and GRE
- Ability to obtain a Secret ClearancePreferred Education, Experience, & Skills
