A Brief Overview Performs a variety of duties in preparing patients for imaging of particular organs to furnish diagnostic information. Operates CT equipment to produce diagnostic results. What you will do - Performs all CT Scanning procedures.
- Follows prescribed techniques in administering X-Rays.
- Operates each CT scanner and ancillary equipment thoroughly and with competence.
- Assists physician in performing radiation treatment planning procedures.
- Maintains quality control procedures on all equipment.
- Operates all equipment thoroughly and with competence.
- Adheres to ALARA.
- Makes sure images are properly oriented, identified, and marked before transmitting images to PACS
- Assists physician in performing procedures and computer enhancing of images.
- Utilizes aseptic techniques and demonstrates ability to perform intravenous injections.
- Selects proper techniques in imaging on an individual patient basis.
- Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients.
- Consults with patients to obtain a complete clinical history. Gathers pertinent clinical data.
- Reviews patient charts for proper exam of physician's orders.
- Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
- Protects self and patients from injury and unnecessary radiation through direct visual observation.
- Differentiates anatomical abnormalities, notifies Radiologist
- Maintains an orderly, safe and clean working area.
- Performs all computer processing and imaging to ensure quality enhancement.
- Troubleshoots any problems that occur with equipment before calling for service.
- Maintains and respects confidentiality.
- Complies with hospital dress codes by wearing ID badge and maintaining professional appearance.
- Demonstrates commitment to own work schedule by adhering to attendance standards.
- Participates in "on-call" rotation in accordance with the needs of the department.
- Rotates to all shifts as needed.
- Assists and transports patients in emergency situations to designated areas.
- Arranges for transportation to and from nursing units.
- Utilizes time in an effective manner.
- Adjusts personal schedule in case of fluctuations in workload of the department.
- Demonstrates ability to recognize priorities and deal with them promptly.
- Attends all staff meetings.
- Reports any suggestions or positive changes to supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Incorporates physiological and developmental age of patients into overall plan for delivery of care.
- Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime and evening/weekend hours in order to meet the operational needs of the Department and/or the Hospital.
- Responsibilities will require the ability to read, write and rationally comprehend the English language.
- Must be able to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that quality service is provided to clients and physicians.
- Utilizing any or all Hospital provided equipment and/or safe work procedures; employee shall be required to lift all objects as is practicable.
- The employee must be able to perform the physical requirements of this job, including but not limited to, standing, walking, reaching with arms and hands, climbing, balancing. Must be able to stoop, kneel and/or crouch.
Education Qualifications - Trade/Vocational School Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology. Required
Experience Qualifications - less than 1 year A minimum of six months CT Technologist experience Preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Training and experience in radiation safety and protection.
