Job Summary: The Environmental Specialist is a team member who works closely with other members of the department to ensure our facilities and job sites are operated in full compliance with State, Federal and local regulations. The Environmental Specialist is a well-rounded hard worker, technically inclined, experienced and comfortable working in both office and operations settings. The Environmental Specialist helps to serve all PII locations.Essential Functions: 1. Dedication. Gain an understanding of all environmental agencies and associated regulations that PII facilities operate under. Work with the environmental team, Director of Technical Services and Environmental Manager to ensure plants are operated in full compliance of state, federal and local regulations/laws.2. Innovation. Assist in developing work protocol and policies that outline conditions and practices that must be followed to ensure compliance. 3. Committed to serve. Aid in plant inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and protocols.4. Assist in personnel training on various environmental policies and procedures. 5. Mastery. Achieve and maintain familiarity with PII facilities and projects, their environmental permits and the operating conditions within their permits. 6. Respect and engage. Maintain timely consistent communication with the department team so all are well informed of environmental issues, permit conditions and compliance along with any issues which may affect plant or project operation. 7. Results matter. Maintain clear, concise, organized, and accurate files for all assigned environmental duties. 8. Measurement. Conduct field surveys and mapping as required to create information and deliverables for internal use, and municipal and State submittals.9. Create project documentation as directed by Director of Technical Services and Environmental Manager.10. Ownership and caring. Become proficient in the use of emerging technologies such as RTK Drones and their application, and sub-centimeter GPS its application to Peckham's facilities and projects. 11. Develop a working knowledge and ability to create maps and drawings in all CAD platforms. Requirements, Education and Experience:1. Bachelor's degree in a course of study related to the Environmental compliance field2. Proficient verbal and written English 3. Hands-on in labor environment as it pertains to environmental and aggregate sample collection 4. Experience in Environmental regulations or similar practices; a plus5. Computer literate and comfortable using MS Office programs, including Excel6. Experience operating aerial drone and GPS a plus. Training on both drone and GPS operation will be provided.7. Exerting up to 50lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 40lbs of force more frequently, and/or up to 10lbs of force constantly to move objects when collecting environmental samples. This position works both in an office setting and in the field on or near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion.
