The primary site of inpatient care services is at the University of Toledo Medical Center, but many of our physicians practice at hospitals and medical offices throughout the region.University of Toledo Physicians offers competitive pay and benefits including: 403B, Pension, health and tuition waiver at UT.The University of Toledo Physicians is looking for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Department of Surgery, specifically the Division of Trauma Surgery, at the University of Toledo Medical Center, a recognized level 2 trauma center. This position primarily involves rounding on inpatient trauma patients and, when necessary, general surgery patients. Responsibilities include acting as the primary provider for inpatients on the trauma service, responding to Level II and Level I trauma activations, conducting trauma consultations, seeing patients in the trauma clinic, discharging trauma patients, rounding in the SICU as needed, and coordinating care with the attending physician on duty.Scheduling consists of three days a week, 12 hour shifts, 6:30am - 6:30pm, mid shifts and night shift coverage as needed, includes weekends and holidays.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES - Demonstrates clinical competency and accountability in care for patients as identified in units Scope of Care
- Maintains competency in performing clinical practice for patients in stages of the life cycle appropriate to specialty
- Asses the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies
- Recognizes deviations from the normal in the assessment and coordinates care with physician
- Writes prescriptions; initiates request and/or perform routine laboratory, radiology, and diagnostic studies as indicated. Identify normal and abnormal findings commonly seen in laboratory studies
- Maintains professional standards of attendance, appearance, demeanor, and company values. Assumes responsibility and accountability of own actions, seeks out supervision as necessary
- Promotes spirit of teamwork through effective communication, cooperation, and collaboration
- Other duties as assignedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program; Masters Degree in appropriate field
- Certifications/Licensure:
- State of Ohio Licensure-Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant
- National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- COA from the Board of Nursing to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Ohio State Medical Board to practice as a Physician Assistant
- BLS Certified
