Overview: The Lab Technician Supports and facilitates daily laboratory operations; performs sample analyses in accordance with National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference(NELAC) standards and in compliance with EPA regulations. Duties & Responsibilities: - Performs general laboratory operations, including preparation and analysis of samples
- Documents work performed in accordance with established protocols; compiles analysis data into lab reports
- Prepares reagents and various media for testing
- Performs routine daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of laboratory instruments and workspace
- Reviews SOPs and guidance documents to ensure all procedures accurately reflect laboratory practices and meet NELAC and/or EPA requirements
- Maintains sample custody, control, and hazardous waste disposal
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications: - Education Requirement: High School diploma or GED; chemistry or physical science degree preferred
- 2+ years of work in a laboratory setting preferred
- Experience working with hazardous chemicals
- General knowledge of chemistry and lab analysis operations and lab safety
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including MS Word and Excel
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation
