Join our collaborative, service-oriented environment, where you will be respected and valued.The Opportunity:The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services is seeking an engaging, visionary and mission-driven physician leader to serve as its Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Providing strategic vision, leadership, and operational oversight as the senior clinical leader of six regional psychiatric hospitals, the CMO will play a pivotal role in setting the agenda for the state-wide behavioral health ecosystem. This leader will provide strategic clinical leadership to the organization's 2,000 dedicated professionals and will ensure high-quality care while advancing the organization as a best-in-class leader in behavioral health.Key Responsibilities:Clinical Leadership:
- Provide clinical oversight and direction for all mental health and addiction services, ensuring evidence-based practices and continuity of care
- Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures, and protocols that adhere to best practices and regulatory standards
- Lead and support quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care, safety, and outcomesStrategic Planning and Policy Development:
- Collaborate with executive and senior leadership to develop and implement long-term strategies that align with the organization's mission and state healthcare priorities
- Guide the integration of behavioral health and addiction services with other state healthcare programs to ensure comprehensive care
- Advocate for policies that promote mental health and addiction treatment services, including prevention, early intervention, and treatment expansionStakeholder Collaboration and Representation:
- Serve as the clinical liaison to government agencies, healthcare providers, and community organizations to coordinate care and align efforts in improving mental health services
- Represent the organization at state and national levels, serving as a spokesperson for mental health and addiction services.Workforce Development and Clinical Supervision:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to clinical staff, including physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Lead efforts in the recruitment, retention, and professional development of clinical staff to ensure a skilled and responsive workforceRegulatory and Compliance Oversight:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including licensing and accreditation standards
- Oversee the implementation of quality assurance and risk management programs to meet clinical and operational performance metricsInnovation and Program Development:
- Drive innovation in clinical programs by incorporating new treatments, technologies, and care delivery models
- Lead the development of integrated care models that address the intersection of mental health, substance use disorders, and physical healthQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- Eligible or certified by the American board of psychiatry and neurology or the American osteopathic board of neurology and psychiatry
- Five years of clinical experience
- Two years of administrative experience
- Certification or substantial training and experience in the field of addiction medicine or addiction psychiatryPreferred Qualifications:
