High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Job Description: - Provide on-ward security functions over forensic patients or residents of secure-care areas within a mental health institution. - Ensure safety and security through on-ward surveillance and escorting patients to and from off-ward activities or appointments. - Investigate patient misbehavior and observe patient behavior, such as during meals. - Intervene during crisis behavior to prevent self-injury or injury to others, including applying restraints or assisting nursing staff as necessary. - Monitor patients in seclusion and conduct searches for dangerous objects, contraband, or unusual room conditions. - Perform direct care, treatment, and program activities to promote patient engagement and independence. - Attend to personal hygiene and grooming needs, and support treatment plan programs related to hygiene, clothing care, and social dining. - Assist patients in washing clothes and participate in one-on-one sessions to discuss problems or concerns. - Support meal service, assist in administering treatments under direction, and aid patients in preparing for medical or psychiatric treatment. - Lead recreational activities and perform general housekeeping duties to maintain sanitary living conditions. - Prepare reports and document patient and unit activities, including progress notes, restraint/seclusion reports, daily logs, and incident reports. - Attend in-service training programs, interdisciplinary team meetings, and weekly staff meetings. - Respond to patient needs in emergency situations such as fires or disturbances.
