Located in Wilsonville, OR Salary: $24.00 Leading automation company in Wilsonville is looking for Controls Technicians for a 3-month contract! The Controls Technician is responsible for the electrical assembly of automation equipment per supplied drawings, schematics, and diagrams in accordance with company, industry and customer standards. Works with industrial PCs, PLCs, servo motion controllers, motors, transducers, and sensors in an industrial automation environment. Machines may involve robots, machine vision, and lasers. #1939ST There is a strong potential this contract will extend beyond three months. Responsibilities of the Controls Technician: - Builds electrical assemblies from schematics and drawings, including control panels, cables, and electro-mechanical sub-assemblies
- Wires main power cables, robot controllers, motors, UPSs and other AC devices
- Works with a team of electrical and mechanical engineers and technicians
- Installs various assemblies that require electrical wiring
- Assembles and tests custom automation systems
- Installs cables and field I/O wiring on machines
- Assists installing and repairing machinery
- Other tasks as assigned
Requirements for the Controls Technician: - Associate's degree in electronics or equivalent experience
- 3-5+ years experience in building, maintenance, or installation of capital equipment OR a combination of experience & training (military, relevant associate's degrees, etc.)
- Working knowledge of electrical standards (e.g. NFPA 79, NEC, UL508, and CE)
- Working knowledge of common electrical sensors (optical/pressure/vacuum/proximity)
- Working knowledge of industrial control systems (e.g. servo motion and robotics)
- Experience with basic electrical troubleshooting; including use of a digital multimeter
- Good English written and verbal communication/documentation skills
- Able to use basic hand and power tools (e.g. wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, cutting tools, measuring tools, drills, wire stripers, crimpers and grinders)
- Able to interpret mechanical/electrical/ pneumatic drawings, diagrams, and schematics
- Able to bend, stoop, kneel, lay, and reach into awkward positions
- Able to stand or sit at a work station for long periods of time
- Able to work both independently and on a team
- Able to lift 25-50lbs frequently
