The News-Review - Managing EditorOverview:The Managing Editor at The News-Review is detail-oriented, innovative and experienced. The Managing Editor plays a key role in managing both the Editorial Department and the reputation of the newspaper. The Managing Editor will regularly engage in community events as well as author editorial content on subjects of community importance. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Receive direction from senior management
• Create and maintain respected relationships with community leaders
• Work directly with editors to manage day-to-day operations
• Work with editors and reporters to develop and expand ideas for daily stories, long-term projects and multi-day series for print and digital media channels
• Oversee and educate other staff members responsible for written and graphic work products, including freelance writers, photographers, illustrators and videographers
• Lead hiring searches
• Develop and execute ideas for written content that will resonate with our audience and elevate the newspaper's brand reputation
• Communicate quickly and efficiently with all newsroom staff as well as sister radio station program managers
• Collaborate with all newsroom staff, executive management and radio station program managers
• Monitor analytics and collaborate with Circulation Manager and webmaster to understand audience
• Ensure that that the digital delivery channel continues to grow by producing timely and relevant content. Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Leadership skills to effectively manage a staff of writers and artists to produce relevant and engaging content
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, or equivalent experience
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Understanding of communication and records law
  • Time management skills with the capability to effectively prioritize and multitask to meet deadlines
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Understanding of shield laws, local ordinances and legal precedents regarding journalism
  • The ability to operate within budgeted costs
  • Able to maintain an ethical, honest and objective standard while meeting deadlines
