Summary Provides assessment and spiritual care through the appropriate intervention and referral of patients, families, significant others, and staff. Cultivates relationships with community clergy and faith groups in their ministry and serves as the liaison between the hospital staff, and the Pastoral/Spiritual Care department. Facilitates, schedules, and coordinates all religious and volunteer programs for the institution. Job Duties - Maintains a pastoral presence by establishing and nurturing a ministry of accompaniment with community members.
- Assesses spiritual needs of patients and provides appropriate interventions with consideration to growth development needs and age group.
- Explores life histories, legacies, and values/goals that guide medical decisions and assists patients/families to navigate through challenging times in a meaningful and potentially transformative way.
- Promotes faith development, mindfulness, and reflective living as essential to the emergence of the whole person through study groups, programs, events, and retreats.
- Serves as crisis support and pastor to the community and offers invocations, blessings, and benedictions at community functions.
- Administers education to students, staff, and volunteers regarding spiritual, religious, emotional, and existential issues.
- Develops pastoral care plans for patients by identifying objectives, interventions and desired outcomes.
- Participates in patient-care rounds, huddles and discharge planning process.
