DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Intern, you will serve as an Air Quality Forecaster with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) maintaining and further developing its air quality forecasting program, which notifies the public of predicted air quality conditions within Pennsylvania, including predicted exceedances of the health-based primary National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for ozone and fine particulate matter, and helps the air quality program to better understand the atmospheric conditions that contribute to exceedances of the NAAQS for ozone and fine particulate matter.

Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time internship that will last from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunchTelework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on a schedule that aligns with the supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:
Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree, or advanced degree program in one of the following majors:MeteorologyAtmospheric ScienceAn approved major course of study at an accredited college or universityGood academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)Freshman year completedPennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university
Additional Requirements: This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.You must be able to perform essential job functions.
