DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role, you will work with state and federal veterinarians, and other health professionals and stakeholders in conducting epidemiological investigations to determine domestic animal exposure, disease source/risk factors, and potential spread related to diseases such as rabies and avian influenza. With a working knowledge of Pennsylvania rabies law and of the rabies virus, you will be be responsible for explaining the applicable laws and disease epidemiology to stakeholders, veterinarians, and other health professionals, and be able to conduct a thorough rabies investigation. Work performed in this position ensures compliance with Bureau laws and regulations, mitigates regulatory disease events, and implements domestic animal disease control programs. Work Schedule and Additional Information:Limited term full-time employmentAvailable work schedules are:8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Tuesday - Saturday with a 30-minute lunch10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday - Friday with a 30-minute lunchThis position is home headquartered for Adams, Berks, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Mifflin, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, Schuylkill, Snyder, Union, and York Counties.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:Graduation from an approved Veterinary Medical Technology Training program and two (2) years of experience in the raising or handling of animals used for a variety of commercial purposes including food animals and farm animals; orA bachelor's degree in Biology, Animal Science, Dairy Science, Poultry Science, or a closely related area with at least 16 credits in animal science; orAn equivalent combination of training and experience. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits. Special Requirement: Possession of a valid class C driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Other Requirements:You must meet the PA residency requirement.
