Description:Job posted until filled. Dispatcher I salary $39,820.Dispatcher II salary $41,811. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this position is to answer incoming emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, and dispatch law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other personnel and services accurately and promptly. This position serves as the first point of contact for incidents, gathering and relaying critical information to responders. The role involves multitasking, ensuring unit safety, and providing resources and information for non-emergency calls. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job duties satisfactorily. Since every duty associated with this position may not be described herein, employees may be required to perform duties not specifically spelled out but may be considered incidental in the performance of this job. - Answers emergency and non-emergency phone lines, confirming caller locations using multiple systems. - Monitors and dispatches on up to eighteen separate radio channels while logging information into the CAD system. - Responds to NCIC hit requests and processes urgent responder requests. - Enters and clears warrants, stolen property and missing persons in NCIC and in-house systems. - Locates active warrants and provides information to agency personnel. - Ensures responders have updated information as calls evolve. - Coordinates with surrounding agency resources during ongoing events. - Runs driver's license and vehicle tag information for multiple agencies. - Serves as the point of contact for hit confirmation request for multiple agencies. - Monitors weather conditions to ensure responder safety. - Keeps track of responder and officer locations within the county. - Performs other related duties as assigned.Requirements:KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must be able to multitask.Must be able to read a mapMust type at least 45 wpmMust acquire a split ear attention skill set.Must be able to perform quick task assessment and problem solving.Must be able to work efficiently and effectively under excessive amounts of pressure and responsibility.High School Diploma or equivalent. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS: Required: DRIVERS LICENSE and High School Diploma or equivalent. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
