Build your future at BAE Systems.BAE Systems is seeking an entry level Engineering Technologist - Weld to support our 2nd and 3rd Shift Weld Operations by developing and implementing training curriculum for welding processes as well as directing continuous improvement efforts on existing methods and equipment. This exciting opportunity offers the ability to learn and implement cutting edge welding technology, thereby making a real difference in the success of BAE Systems.In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business onsite at our Aiken, SC facility.As an Engineering Technologist I, you will: - Perform professional technical work that involves knowledge of engineering principles, manufacturing concepts, techniques and practices.
- Develop, document and implement weld process parameters. This includes PQR and WPS development for MIG and TIG processes based on engineering drawings, applicable weld code and design specifications.
- Develop, document and conduct applicable training curriculum to ensure that welders are qualified to produce quality product based on the aforementioned requirements.
- Monitor welder performance, maintain qualification records and conduct ongoing audits to ensure compliance.
- Investigate and implement new technology to improve process quality and effectiveness.
- Monitor weld equipment and facilitate improvements, repairs and replacement activities.
- Provide effective, timely production engineering support to address technical issues.
- Maintain materials and work area used for weld school and welder qualification testing.
- Coordinate testing / qualification activities and records.
- Drive continuous improvement opportunities to positively impact Quality and Cost metrics.
- Support the world class safety performance and culture at BAE systems by actively seeking to improve workplace safety and ergonomics.Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Associates Degree (e.g.,Manufacturing Technology, Weld Engineering, Applied Technology etc.), and two (2) years experience; or a relevant Weld Certification and 4+ years experience
- Must be able to work 2nd shift (2:30 PM - 11:00 PM) or 3rd shift (10:30pm - 7:00am)
- Experience with one or more of the following processes: Gas-Metal-Arc Welding (GMAW), GMAW-Pulse, Gas-Tungsten-Arc Welding (GTAW), Shielded-Metal-Arc Welding (SMAW)
- Understanding of Weld Engineering procedure development - proficient understanding of PQR and WPS use.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop training materials and conduct relevant training.
- Computer literacy to include MS Office applications including Word and Excel
- Demonstrated ability to promote world class safety performance through relevant project work and participation in safety audit programsPreferred Education, Experience, & Skills
