It was the first academic health center in Texas and is home to the state s first schools of medicine, nursing, and allied health sciences. UTMB is also home to the Galveston National Laboratory, one of only two laboratories conducting research on a university campus at the BSL-4 level in the U.S. Overall research funding has increased 20% over the past five years to $132 million and UTMB ranks 54th nationally in NIH funding among medical schools. The UTMB Division of Endocrinology is seeking a full-time faculty candidate to join our growing Division. At UTMB, the Division of Endocrinology provides both inpatient and outpatient referral-based clinical care in all areas of Endocrinology. Our outpatient services are in Galveston, League City, Friendswood, and Angleton, providing easy access for patients residing in Galveston County and the South Houston metropolitan area. The Stark Diabetes Center is in our League City clinics and provides integrative patient care working closely with a variety of medical and surgical specialties involved in prevention of diabetes and its complications. Our faculty includes basic science researchers, clinician scientists and full-time clinicians dedicated to both patient care and teaching. Physician faculty members should expect to perform 9 half-days of out-patient clinics, to participate in weekend rotation for inpatient consults, and to be an instructor/mentor for medical students, Internal Medicine Residents and Endocrinology Fellows.
