JOB DESCRIPTION: The NICU Charge Nurse position at Houston Methodist is a leadership role for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) who provides clinical expertise and guidance on the night shift. In addition to delivering nursing care, the Charge Nurse mentors and coaches department personnel to enhance their skills and knowledge. This role involves leading unit and shared governance activities, assessing practice needs, and promoting a continuous improvement environment. Responsibilities include fostering staff engagement, improving team dynamics, and driving department service standards. The Charge Nurse also plays a key role in quality and safety initiatives, as well as contributing to financial targets and fostering innovation for practice changes. This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and twenty-four months of clinical nursing experience with progressive leadership skills. A valid RN license and BLS certification are required, with additional credentials and certifications preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication, assessment, organizational, and problem-solving skills, while also possessing proficiency in electronic medical records and time management.
