Job Summary The Assistant Plant Superintendent is responsible for the scheduling of driver and plant personnel with Dispatch, coordination of job sites, approve time in KRONOS and PBC systems, management of plant operations and maintenance, and management of raw materials. Job Responsibilities Safety: - Adhere to all CEMEX and OSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds, meeting or exceeding CEMEX and OSHA safety standards
- Promotes safety within assigned plant and serves as an example using visible felt leadership
- Assist in the review and closure of all Safety Improvement Cards for assigned plant(s)
- Responsible for the investigation and root cause analysis of any safety related incidents
- Review and act on DriveCam events
- Overseeing the cleanliness of the fleet, plant, restrooms, and offices
- Understands that nothing is more important than the safety of CEMEX employees, contractors, and the general public
Performance: - Responsible for managing costs and key performance indicators (KPI) for assigned plant(s)
- Expected to meet clearly defined profit and loss statement and KPI goals
- Coordinates and makes recommendations for area budget to management
- Responsible for hiring and retention to maintain required headcount
Production: - Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the transportation and production of concrete, and is responsible for managing and balancing the hours and workload of direct reports, including overtime under the Fatigue Management policy
- Supervises drivers in assigned territory, including the recruiting, orientation, ongoing training, day to-days scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in daily preventative and minor repair maintenance of the plant
- Supervises the operation of concrete batching to ensure excellent quality that meets or exceeds designed specifications
- Responsible for the quality and quantity of raw materials within assigned plant(s) and ensures proper handling, storage and testing
- Monitor quality and quantity of raw materials to ensure that products meet established standards
- Ensures that procedures set in place are performed and actions are taken to correct any deficiencies in plant operation
- Responsible for ongoing improvement and support through Operational Excellence (OE) initiatives and projects
- Responsible for ongoing improvement of the assigned plant(s) and surrounding area(s)
- Coordinates with Plant Superintendent and Environmental Department to ensure the plant(s) for which he/she is responsible is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and requirements
- Coordinates with Plant Superintendent and Maintenance Department in the repairs and preventative maintenance of plant and equipment, including the development of pre- and post-day inspections; ensures that minor maintenance to the plant at the request of the Maintenance Department is performed
- Assist in ongoing minor maintenance and visual evaluations of plant and equipment
- Confers with Plant Superintendent and Area Manager to resolve problems, provide immediate feedback, and may recommend solutions to improve performance
- Responsible for the morale of all employees at assigned plant(s) and creates and maintains a professional and respectful atmosphere where everyone works together to attain plant-level goals
- Meet or exceed company safety standards
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
Qualifications - College degree, preferably in an engineering discipline, or 5 (or more) years of relevant working experience preferred
- 5 (or more) years experience performing varied responsibilities related to plant production, safety, and maintenance; equipment maintenance; experience in detecting and resolving production problems
- 3 (or more) years in a supervisory role
- ACI Certification
- NRMCA Plant Manager Course
- High school diploma or equivalent / some technical, vocational or education preferred
- One (or more) years' experience performing varied responsibilities related to plant production, safety, and maintenance; equipment maintenance; experience in detecting and resolving production problems
- ACI Certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Working knowledge of OSHA/DOT regulations
- Strong Basic Computer Skills including, but not limited to, SAP, MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Command, KRONOS
- Working knowledge of Performance Based Compensation (PBC)
Working Conditions - Must be able to work all hours - including nights and weekends
- Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
- Must wear protective equipment while at the location
Physical Requirements - Requires stationary position, traverse, move, transport, and the ability to significant degree to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position
- Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
- Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
