JOB SUMMARY
Works under general supervision to provide technical assistance to veterinary medical or research staff in delivering health care, including veterinary medicine, surgery, and radiology, to laboratory animals. Provides organization and coordination of veterinary technical tasks.

    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
    Required
    • Education
      High School Diploma Or Equivalent
      • Experience
        2 years Working with animals in a clinical or research setting
        Preferred
        • Licenses and Certifications
          (AALAS)

          JOB DUTIES
            • Assist the ARC veterinary staff to provide research and health care support for a wide variety of species. Able to routinely work in the animal facility without direct supervision.
            • Provide pre- and post-operative animal monitoring.
            • Maintain animal health and study related records as required by the IACUC and ARC policy.
            • Able to perform routine diagnostic testing utilizing common laboratory equipment. Examples would include internal and external parasite examinations, PCV and total protein and urinalysis.
            • Work comfortably in a microbiological barrier facility as well as ABSL-2 and ABSL-3 containment areas.
            • Obtain routine blood collections from research animals. Perform antigen injections and sample collections for antibody production in research animals.
            • Maintain appropriate medical records as required. Assist in maintaining surveillance of investigator research protocols.
            • Participate in University mandated training such as MRI, Radiation Safety and Blood Borne Pathogens.
            • Perform other duties as assigned.
