Primary Purpose:Performs daily custodial tasks that provide school personnel, students, and the public with an environmentally safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to work and conduct school activities. Duties/Responsibilities: - Maintains campus buildings, facilities, grounds, and equipment by performing regular janitorial and maintenance tasks
- Performs routine custodial and maintenance tasks
- Perform cafeteria breakfast and lunch dining area cleaning and setup
- Perform cleaning on restrooms, hallways, classrooms and other common areas
- Perform litter removal and routine cleaning of the exterior of assigned building(s) and property
- Perform light-duty repairs and maintenance such as painting or changing light bulbs
- Cleaning bodily fluids and disinfecting surfaces
- Perform setup for campus events
- Performs and/or oversees contractors who perform non-routine maintenance tasks and summer refresh tasks
- Pressure washing and other cleaning of the building exterior
- Re-painting walls in classrooms and walls inside the building
- Moving furniture in preparation for stripping and waxing operations
- Assisting in stripping and waxing operations
- Notifies school administration of any needed major repairs or equipment failure
- Remains vigilant on safety and security issues and notifies school administration of any safety or security issues that arise
- Maintains organization and cleanliness of storage, supply and maintenance areas; maintains a record of inventory and orders supplies as needed and requests re-supply
- Responds to emergency situations in order to confine, resolve or prevent injurious or otherwise hazardous conditions
- Report emergencies to the Operations Director
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s) - Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED equivalent OR minimum 2 years' experience in the janitorial service industry OR 2 years' experience in building maintenance. Experience working in a school environment preferred but not required.
- Experience Requirements: Experience working with janitorial machinery (floor scrubbers, floor buffers, restroom cleaning machines) preferred but not required.
- Special Skills/Certifications: None required Required Skills/Abilities:
- Communication Skills: Ability to receive and understand verbal and written instructions in English.
- Bi-lingual Sills: No bi-lingual skills are required.
- Technology: To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess the ability to learn and use computer software to view work orders for the day. Ability to use basic office equipment. This position will also require the ability to learn how to operate a burglar alarm. Applicant must also be able to use a smart phone to send and receive photos and text messages. Ability to use standard custodial equipment computerized displays and controls.
