Client Industry: Energy Job Title: Substation Engineer Duration: 6 Months (Contract To Hire) Location: Houston, TX 77034 Pay: $25/hr - $30/hr Key Roles & Responsibilities Directly or through others, the incumbent will: Testing breakers and relays Commissioning relays within the EE space Troubleshooting the field system and commissioning systems Validating settings within RTS Assist with the administration of databases containing test result data including - SQL Server, Powerbase, RTS, DTA, SERTS. Provide tech support to field personnel for test equipment apparatus software and commissioning procedures. May include providing after hours assistance in the field. Review load readings produced during commissioning of substation equipment. May include providing after hours assistance in the field. Assist in regulatory-related operations and planning activities as necessary including but not limited to audits or other external evaluations. Prepare written documentation and presentations on technical issues. Requires investigative skills, knowledge of substation operating systems and technical writing skills. Investigate, report, and provide solutions on operating problems and equipment failures. Develop corrective action, procedure, and process recommendations utilizing available resources including the technical assistance of other Company personnel Author / Co-author weekly Operations Memos Perform technical assessments of customer and companies substations. Develop substation equipment advisories and technical bulletins. Develop and provide presentations to field crews, management, and customers. Serve as a division representative on task forces and committees. Plan, organize, and guide extensive programs and activities of major importance. Assist with proving and vetting Doble DUC software updates Must Have: Requires strong knowledge of electrical technologies/Power Energy Systems Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university. A Professional Engineer (PE) license or active pursuit of a PE license in the State of Texas, or an EE Requires a minimum of five years of electric utility or power engineering experience. More...
