Position Title: Assistant Professor - Teacher Education Location: Big Rapids (Main Campus) Department: 33700 - Teacher Education Advertised Salary: 66,000 to 68,000; Salary commensurate with education, experiences and other requirements. Comprehensive benefit package (health care, vacation, etc.) FLSA: Exempt Temporary/Continuing: Continuing Part-Time/Full-Time: Full-Time Union Group: Ferris Faculty Association (MEA-NEA) Term of Position: 9 Month At Will/Just Cause: Just Cause Summary of Position: Assistant Professor of Education - Ferris State University. The School of Education seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor in Teacher Education. Responsibilities will be to teach courses in any, but not all of the following areas: special education. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment The anticipated start date of this position is January 2025 or August 2025 at the latest. Position Type: Faculty - Temporary & Continuing Required Education: Ed. D. or Ph.D. in Education or closely related field. At least 18 credits of course work in special education at the master's degree or higher. Required Work Experience: 3 years teaching at the PK-12 level in special education. (Two years part-time is equivalent to one year full-time.) Required Licenses and Certifications: Teacher certification or the ability to be certified. Physical Demands: - Office Environment

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Higher Education teaching experience. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Faculty members also have professional responsibilities that include advising students, orientation and registration of students, participation in university committees, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (i.e. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty members may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment. Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members Teach courses in education- general education, special education, or any other area qualified. Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives. Participate in committees within the department, college, and university. Assist in all accreditation processes including data collection. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
