Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Labor and Delivery/Post Partum Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night - 3x12 - 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week Experience: Minimum one year preferred License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC required Certifications: - American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification - Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) Certification/or Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Certification Must-Have: - Therapeutic skills - Wound care expertise - Proficiency in patient care Job Description: --- Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and review of medical records and clinical data. --- Evaluate patients' responses and intervene to ensure optimal outcomes. --- Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. --- Demonstrate competency in various therapeutic/diagnostic interventions, including IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections. --- Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient. --- Provide patient/family education through assessment of learning readiness, needs, and abilities, and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching. --- Recognize patients as full partners in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for their preferences, values, and needs. --- Deliver relationship-based care with respect for cultural differences and diverse human experiences. --- Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel in accordance with State Board of Nursing and hospital policy. --- Use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies effectively to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care. --- Serve as a professional role model for all staff, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes. --- Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs. --- Use standards of care, hospital policies/procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice. --- Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care. --- Precept/mentor new staff or nursing students as needed, seeking learning opportunities and continuing education. --- Maintain professional records that demonstrate competence and lifelong learning. --- Evaluate own integrity and nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations. --- Take action to achieve goals identified during the evaluation process. --- Demonstrate commitment to the organization through ongoing participation in hospital and unit-based meetings. --- Understand the value of measurement and the importance of continuous quality improvement data. --- Use quality measures to improve performance and accountability for patient outcomes, experiences, and safe delivery of care. --- Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities. --- Use current healthcare research findings and other evidence to expand clinical knowledge, enhance role performance, and increase knowledge of professional issues. --- Be prepared for floating assignments to any location within the organization's identified float zone, which may include duties outside of the original job description.
