BWXT's technology is driving advances in medical radioisotope production in North America and microreactors for various defense and space applications.BWXT is looking to hire a Director of Contract Services in the Lynchburg or Barberton facility!The Director of Contract Services will work within the Nuclear Operations Group (NOG) ensuring that contracts align with company policies, legal requirements, and strategic goals. This role is essential in managing contractual agreements and providing strategic contract direction for the organization.Duties / Responsibilities: - Build productive business relationships to successfully execute enterprise-wide scope of responsibility and influence with stakeholders at multiple locations and organizational levels.
- Develop and execute the company's contracting strategy throughout BWXT NOG.
- Serve as contracts leader, coordinating all facets of contract management and negotiation activities.
- Negotiate Government and commercial Prime and sub-Prime contracts, amendments, and modifications.
- Utilize proven experience in leading successful contracts efforts to negotiate optimal contract terms.
- Provide strategic recommendations to optimize business opportunities.
- Lead efforts to develop short and long-term contracting improvement strategies.
- Ensure favorable contract terms and ongoing business collaboration.
- Oversee the development, negotiation, and execution of business contracts.
- Collaborate with legal, finance, and procurement teams to align contract terms with organizational strategies.
- Ensure that contracts meet company policies and legal standards.
- Analyze contract performance and financial implications.
- Conduct audits of existing contracts.
- Oversee the renewal process, ensuring compliance with laws and company objectives.
- Ensure efficient and effective contract management processes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external parties (suppliers, partners, customers).
- Lead the contracts team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
- Lead special projects as requested by the NOG and Government Operations management teams.Minimum Requirements and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10 years' experience in contracting within manufacturing operations.
- Demonstrated experience with increasing levels of management and leadership responsibility.
- Proven experience and thorough understanding of government contracting, FAR/DFAR federal regulations, and terms and conditions.
- Preferred experience - Fixed Costs pricing, Fixed Firm/Cost Plus, Sole Source, and/or First of a Kind (FOAK) terms.
- Experience handling contracts ranging in monetary value from multi-million through multi-billion.
- Familiarity with legal and financial aspects of contracts.
- Analytical mindset for contract performance evaluation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Collaborative approach to management.
- Robust communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work onsite at BWXT Lynchburg, VA or Barberton, OH sites.
- Willingness to travel as business needs dictate.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.
