DescriptionYour Tasks: The Service Support Engineer is responsible for a wide scope of service focused technical leadership responsibilities. This includes resolving equipment and customer issues that could not be resolved by the service team, defining, organizing and presenting formal technical trainings, providing technical support to service and sales personnel, authoring service procedures, providing serviceability and reliability reports, creating and optimizing service processes, and managing special projects assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Is the service department technical expert for assigned products.
- Develop new product service launch plans and strategies.
- Work with Global Service Support and the service materials planner to establish parts inventories.
- Establish new service engineer technical training and service department onboarding programs.
- Work with Global Service Support to develop and optimize service strategies, methods, tools, techniques and procedures to drive service department effectiveness.
- Author service bulletins, service manuals, and other service documents.
- Develop, document, and present formal service training classes.
- Evaluate service engineer's technical effectiveness and assign remedial training and development activities as required.
- Conduct onsite service activities at customer locations throughout a multi-state geographic region. Services performed include repairs, installations, preventive maintenance, and various levels of validation services on complex scientific instrumentation.
- Work independently without direct supervision or ready access to technical support in all cases.
- Plan, prioritize and schedule jobs, including organizing travel, coordinating with customers and sales personnel, organizing parts, tools, and other materials to assure they are available at the job sites.
- Complete various reports including service reports, validation reports, expense reports, inventory reports, and ad hoc reports as required.
- Update various systems and databases.
- Manage a parts inventory and a company sponsored expense account.
- Ongoing and frequent travel required, including weekly overnight domestic and international travel.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
