Job Description Job Summary: A Marine Fire Alarm Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems in accordance with industry standards and NAVSEA Standard items.

• Working closely with the Craft Supervisor to install, test, and provide feedback of the systems safe operation. As required by NAVSEA Standard items and BAE Systems policies and procedures
• Conduct routine inspections and testing of fire alarm components, including control panels, detectors, horns, batteries, and annunciators, to verify proper operation.
• Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection findings, test results and any related deficiencies or non-compliance issues observed, in accordance with NAVSEA Standard items.
• Interact professionally with Ships Force personnel to schedule work, discuss inspection findings, address any concerns or questions, and provide recommendations for system upgrades or improvements.
• Troubleshoot system malfunctions and perform repairs as needed, identifying, and resolving issues with wiring, circuitry, devices, and software.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, always adhering to safety guidelines, protocols, and procedures.
  • Must be capable of using various types of electrical multimeter testing device and or general-purpose test equipment.
  • Must have basic computer skills, using Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel)
  • While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
    • Capable of using hand and power tools, including specialty tools resulting in cutting, grinding, drilling, fastening and other methods resulting in torque, vibration, noise, etc.
    • Ability to go up steps on various navy platform and dry docks.
    • Must be able to work the following environmental considerations (Heat, cold, wet noise, humidity, and vibrations).
    • Must be able to work at height above 6 feet and tight/confined spaces.
    • Capable of lift 10 to 50 pounds, climbing stooping, bending, and kneeling.
    • Capable of reaching above the shoulders deck level and below.
    • Must have the grasping and fine manipulation of both right and left hands.
    • Must have the capability of understanding ship layout and compartments numbering systems.
    • Must be able to wear all require Personal Protective Equipment.
    • Must be able to drive and have reliably transportation. Required Education, Experience, & Skills High school Diploma/GEDMinimum Experience 5 to 7 years in trade.A First Class Electrician must be able to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and or equipment.Maintains and sustains a safe working environment by following, practicing and encouraging others to observe all safety precautions required while working in a heavy industrial environment.Ensures safe working environment by following correct lock-out, danger, red tag procedures and WAF requirements.Determines relevant drawings required for a job by reviewing job packet, locating relevant drawings and then cross-referencing with resources such as Navy Standards Items, ISO 9000 procedures, IEEE and Chapter 300 EPISM.Lays out jobs by identifying installation equipment requirements, e.g., hangers, boxes, conduit, wire ways, etc., tools and control equipment, e.g., push-buttons, switches, controller and power distribution panels, etc.Conducts rip-out of systems using hand and power tools, e.g., cable cutters, saws-all, grinders, by following schematics or work order instructions.Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, controllers, and circuit breaker panels, fastening in place using hand and power tools.Determines cable paths to equipment aboard ships using blueprints (cable routing plans), job orders, and other sources of information.Installs electrical and electronic circuits by following cabling/wiring electrical schematics and pulling cable through designated conduits, cableways, MCTs, MCPs etc., properly securing cables (banding) and packing swage tubes, MCTs, MCPs etc.Marks all circuitry work by ensuring cabling is correctly identified and tagged appropriately with metal tag carrying circuit number/identification.Installs electrical equipment by connecting power and control cables between various types of equipment, e.g., power panels,Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Experience Preferred 7 to 10 years in trade.Pay InformationThis position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which will determine your wages.Employee Benefits: At BAE Systems, we support our employees in all aspects of their life including health and financial well-being.
