Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOur client in the Roanoke, VA area is seeking an Accountant to join their team. As an Accountant, you will be part of the Accounting Department. The ideal candidate will have effective communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy along with strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills which will align successfully in the organization.Job Title: AccountantLocation: Hollins, VAPay Range: Up to $30 per hour What's the Job?

• Monitor and reconcile general ledger activity for accuracy
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations within 45 days of close for cash, short-term investments, receivables, payables, payroll and fees paid in advance
• Book journal entries
• Assist with month-end and fiscal year end closes, financial statement preparations and audits
• Supervise two work-study studentsWhat's Needed?
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of three (3) to six (6) years of experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and reporting policies and procedures, Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, detail, accuracy, organizational, problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Preferred experience includes Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, current CPA or pursuing CPA certification, proficiency with query tools (i.e. Power BI or Orbit), experience working in a higher education institution or non-profit organization, experience with Ellucian Banner ERP system What's in it for me?
