IonQ is at the forefront of this technological revolution. The salary range for this position is $153,003 - $200,321.We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer - Simulation Tools. As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world's best quantum computers to solve the world's most complex problems.In this role, you will primarily develop software and tools to support simulations at different levels of complexity of trapped ion quantum computer. You will work with the engineering team to gather requirements, develop software to connect different tools in the simulation stack of the current and next generation quantum systems and integrate tools with the rest of the software stack. You will also help build, maintain and test software infrastructure necessary to enable simulations at scale and improve the overall code quality of existing libraries.Responsibilities: - Gather requirements for different use cases of multi-scale physics simulations
- Create documentation, design architecture and write maintainable code following best practices to enable end-to-end physics simulations
- Integrate different simulation softwares in the simulation stack
- Automate, test and parallelize simulation workflow
- Improve efficiency and code quality of overall simulation tools
- Document and communicate software development activities to the engineering team
- Maintain and improve build process, version control and CI/CD pipelineYou'd be a good fit with:
- Masters in Physics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in software development of physics-based simulation tools
