  Job Details
  • Orientation/Education Hours: Orientation/education hours are not guaranteed during the first 2 week of your assignment. Expect 25+ hours.
  • A hospital in Washington is looking for an experienced ICU RN for a travel contract.
  • This position is for the Mixed ICU (medical and CV) 4th Floor with 24 beds.
    Job Requirements
    • 2 full years of experience in ICU
    • Experience with management of Swans, Prismaflex CRRT, IABP, Immediate open heart recovery preferred.
    • WA License. Pending license needed to submit.
    • Temp license takes approximately 4 weeks.
      Schedule Information
      • Shifts & Scheduling: 07-1930 1900-0730. 6 weeks at a time. Self scheduling, balanced then reviewed by the manager.
      • First schedule they would be filling holes.
      • Weekend Requirement: May be working a lot of Sundays.
      • Weekends are a high need right now.
      • Holiday Requirement: Rotate with permanent staff.
        Unit Specific Information
        • Ratios: 1:1, 1:2 for ICU level acuity, 1:3-4 for PCU level acuity
        • Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Sepsis, COPD, Covid, pneumonia, CRRT, IABP, impella, PA catheters. Arctic sun for post cardiac arrest patients. Recovery of immediate open heart patients. Overflow from cath lab. Post surgical needing longer recovery. - Post interventional caths.
        • RN required to titrate drips: Yes
        • Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Yes, charge and resource nurse on every shift. Charge nurse free, resource may take a load.
        • Nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: CNA's 1:12 ratio. May be pulled for 1:1 sitters.
        • Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: In house 24/7. Along with a dedicated pharmacist until 11, then house pharmacy after that.
        • RT in ICU 24/7: Dedicated to ICU 24/7.
        • RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): All, CPAP, BiPAP, Vents.
        • Tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? ICU nurses are required to set up, manage and interpret the monitors and measure and interpret their own strips.
        • Floating Requirements: Yes, most often floating between 4th, 5th or 6th floors (critical care) or to the ER for patient holds.
        • Scrub Color/Dress Code: Any professional color scrubs.
          Additional Details
          • Region III: Primary to St. Michael Medical Center but if needed, travelers will be required to float throughout Region Three: St Anthony Hospital - Gig Harbor, WA; St. Michael Medical Center - Silverdale, WA.
          • Additional $20/hr when floated within Region III that's not the primary facility.
