Growing together. - - Under minimal supervision the RN Practice Health and Safety Consultant supports the Optum Practice Health and Safety Program at Optum WA as a field assessor and subject matter expert on clinical compliance and regulatory standards. Conducts regular assessments in each practice per Optum guidelines and ensures compliance with regulations, policies, and organizational standards. This position serves as a primary point of contact for managers and staff related to Practice Health and Safety. Regional travel is required for this position to Optum Care Washington and Polyclinic locations. - Primary Responsibilities: - Conduct Practice Health & Safety Assessments at all clinical sites Ensure complete and accurate documentation of assessments and corrective action plans Coordinate with practice managers, supervisors and staff on remediation activities surrounding identified opportunities for improvement, from initiation through completion Provide subject matter expertise and guidance related to patient safety, regulatory compliance, accreditation standards, and evidence-based practice Assist in developing and delivering training, education, and targeted support to practice staff as applicable Onboards new clinics (acquisitions) to Practice Health and Safety process and standards Proactively identify support opportunities surrounding practice health and safety, clinical compliance, and quality improvement Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of federal and state regulations, standards, and guidelines Developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures related to Practice Health and Safety and any associated training needed Collaborate with Employee Health and Safety team to clinical managers to ensure Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Washington Industrial Safety and Health Administration (WISHA) and Department of Ecology (DOE) compliance Collaborate with Infection Preventionists to ensure best infection control practices and regulatory requirements are met in all clinical areas Report assessment data to appropriate clinical departments and to Optum Practice Health and Safety Communicate concerns and opportunities to clinical operational and facilities leaders as needed. Prefer one or more years' experience with patient safety, DOSH, CMS, quality improvement, and/or project management Knowledge: of applicable state and federal patient safety and environmental health regulations and laws including, but not limited to CMS, DOSH/OSHA, ADA, EPA, and DOE Knowledgeable of hazardous materials or able to complete specialized training as needed Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, with diverse work groups, present publicly, communicate effectively with key stakeholders, lead meetings and coach teams through change and opportunities Proven critical thinking skills, ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures Proven proactive, self-motivated, and self-directed - Equipment Used: |
