We need an experienced network security engineer--who has a strong background in networking across both on-premise and cloud technologies. We're looking for independent, self-motivated engineers who are passionate about what they do and love cybersecurity. Your expertise in network security will be instrumental in safeguarding our organization's sensitive information and ensuring compliance with industry standards, best practices, and regulations. In this position, you will work with cross-functional teams across a set of diverse technologies--to help design, assess, and implement network security solutions and provide authoritative consultation on enterprise network security projects. You will work in an agile and innovative environment, solving complex problems and collaborating with network and cybersecurity architects and engineers to ensure the safety and security of Northwestern Mutual corporate and client data. An expert in networking and network security principles Continuous learner with focus on information security risks and mitigations Knowledgeable on secure cloud architectures Experienced working with network architecture and engineering teams Employs a flexible and constructive approach when solving problems Consult, review, design, and engineer network security solutions by tactically embedding with network security team Represent the CISO's department to ensure network security initiatives align with enterprise information protection strategies and patterns Guide and advise network security engineering teams on security best practices Consult on large enterprise network security projects to ensure best practices are followed Monitor for network redesigns that will impact security capabilities Design, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, processes, and methodologies that support network security capabilities Actively monitor, assess, and recommend tactical and strategic initiatives based on new and emerging threats posing risk to our company Stay apprised of current and proposed security changes impacting regulatory, privacy and security industry best practices Mentor other staff members to ensure consistency, quality, and productivity of deliverables Bachelor's or equivalent experience with an emphasis in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, MIS related field 5+ years' experience in cloud and on-prem technologies (Systems administration of Unix/Linux/Windows, AWS and/or Azure networking, firewalls, etc.) 5+ years' experience in development, infrastructure, or cybersecurity Understanding of applicable risk management frameworks such as NIST Experience with CICD pipelines to automate application and infrastructure code deployments Experience with workload orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes Understanding of a wide range of cybersecurity capabilities including data security, security engineering, identify & access management, incident response, logging & monitoring, and penetration testing Relevant certifications from GIAC, ISC(2) and other recognized cybersecurity industry organizations Experience with development and scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or equivalent Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; Please note that the salary range listed in the posting is the standard pay structure.
